"… so you see it was quite the terrible accident." Vincent said to Mr. Clark, his attorney.
"I'll file the claim with the insurance company," Mr. Clark said dryly, "though I hope you understand just how suspicious this looks. You've had six such accidents in the last 3 months. People are starting to ask questions, and I'm sure your… benefactor can only do so much."
"I resent that accusation," Vincent replied, the sarcasm dripping from his voice. "Debby was a wonderful lady. That her brakes should fail on the way back from the store is truly tragic."
Mr. Clark simply looked up from the paper work. "Actually, this one was Margaret. Her brakes failed on the way to the theater."
"Of course," Vincent said in reply, "of course."
